Dr. Rob Hughes is an associate with Osmodal. Operating mainly within the transport sector in the UK, Rob has 20 years of experience in the provision of rail retailing technology and services. For the last 10 years Rob worked for Trainline, the leading online rail retailer in the UK, as a Product Owner and latterly Product Director, designing and delivering a wide range of retailing features critical to Trainline’s success.

He was responsible for the prioritisation and definition of the development pipeline for five development squads covering international journey search, international supply, UK fares, UK fulfilment/ticketing and UK post-sale processes. Rob has also led mobile application retailing initiatives, introduced e-ticketing, led various smartcard projects and the replacement of Trainline’s journey planner and fares engine. He also played an important role in Trainline’s move to international retailing through integrated journey search capabilities.

He has significant experience in core industry retail systems service procurement, operation and design from the ten years he worked for Rail Settlement Plan / Rail Delivery Group (the UK’s central rail industry ticketing and settlement organisation). As an experienced Product Owner, Rob likes to focus on customer experience and desired business outcomes before delving deeply into solution options and taking forward the best ideas into systems specification and development.
